The recently concluded event in celebration of the National Cybersecurity Month, themed “CyberTiwala, CyberHanda, CyberTatag,” was an insightful and impactful initiative jointly hosted by FEU Tech and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). It effectively underscored the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital age, especially among students, educators, and professionals who are increasingly dependent on technology in their everyday lives. The theme—CyberTiwala (Trust), CyberHanda (Preparedness), and CyberTatag (Resilience)—was both timely and powerful. Each component was clearly reflected throughout the event’s program. CyberTiwala emphasized the need to build trust in digital systems by promoting responsible online behavior and understanding the basics of online safety. CyberHanda tackled preparedness, discussing proactive steps individuals and institutions must take to secure their digital assets.

National Cybersecurity Month was impactful in raising awareness about online security. To enhance future events, consider adding interactive workshops, real-world case studies, and industry-specific best practices. Encouraging audience participation through Q&As or challenges and providing follow-up resources like checklists or toolkits would reinforce key messages. Hosting a hackathon or expert panel discussions could further deepen engagement and learning.

The recent cybersecurity seminar, featuring Elijah Mendoza from PLDT and Smart, and Atty. Omar Sana from Huawei, provided invaluable insights into the evolving landscape of the internet, digital security, and the role of advanced technologies in both facilitating and combating cyber threats. This seminar highlighted how cybersecurity has become a critical concern in today’s digital era, where both individuals and organizations are constantly exposed to cyber threats. Elijah Mendoza’s presentation on the “Evolution of Cyberspace” was particularly enlightening. He broke down the progression of the internet from its early days (Internet 1.0) to the current state (Internet 3.0), which encompasses decentralization and artificial intelligence. This historical context was crucial in understanding how cyber threats have evolved along with technology. Mendoza delved into various types of cyber threats, such as phishing, spear phishing, and whaling, explaining how these tactics are used by mali
